Monday night
ulti.
Just a quick note to let you all
know that, as happens around this time every year, we are
being bumped from Polson Park on Monday nights by football.
Our new location for Monday night drop in/pickup games is
N'Kwala Park, a beautiful field that is tucked away a bit
off the beaten path. To get to N'Kwala drive up Silverstar
Road (48th Avenue) past Butcher Boys grocery (48th Ave and
PV Road). One of the first lefts after passing Butcher Boys
is MacDonald Road. N'Kwala is about 2 minutes down MacDonald
on the left hand side. The address for the field is 5440 MacDonald
Road and there are signs indicating the parking lot for the
field.
Hope to continue to see you out on the field,
Dan

New to Ultimate
Frisbee ??
WHAT
IS ULTIMATE?
Ultimate is a non-contact sport played with a frisbee
(disc) by two seven player teams. The object of the game is
to score goals by catching the disc in the endzone. The disc
may only be moved by passing (the thrower is not allowed to
take any steps).
Any time a pass is incomplete,
intercepted, knocked down or contacts an out-of-bounds area,
a turn-over occurs, resulting in an immediate change of possession
of the disc.
A goal is scored when a player
successfully passes the disc to a teammate in the endzone
which that team is attacking.
SPIRIT OF THE GAME
Ultimate has traditionally relied upon a spirit
of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair
play on the player.
Competitive play is encouraged, but never at
the expense of the bond of mutual respect between players,
adherence to the agreed-upon rules of the game, or the basic
joy of play.
Protection of these vital elements serves to
eliminate adverse conduct on the Ultimate field - no taunting,
dangerous aggression, intentional fouling or other win-at-all-costs
behaviour!
Ultimate is a high energy, co-ed, non-contact
sport that is lots of fun and a great way to meet new people.
The Vernon Ultimate Club invites you to come out and play
at any time. Beginners and novices are ALWAYS welcome.
Phone 260-5245 or email Dan
Reid for info about registration and how to find/form
a team!
By the way, you can also play in
Kelowna, Penticton & Kamloops - see When
& Where. And if you're not sure what ultimate is all
about, our Links page is a great place
to start. |
